How much is Declan Rice worth ?

My all time West Ham heroes are the holy trinity of Brooking , Bonds and Devonshire but this lad is going to be better than all of them...he could genuinely become one of the all time greats over the next few years. And a better character you couldnt wish for.
So how much is he worth to West Ham ? Given that a top 6 finish last season in the Prem gave us £140m revenue I'd say at least that figure....without him the pisspoor depth of quality we have in the squad leaves us looking like a bottom half /possible relegation candidate team after he goes. Moyes is already being quoted as saying it's going to take a 'humungous' fee to persuade the club to sell him this summer...if Rice was a Spurs player Levy would be quoting any potential buyers £200m upwards for sure. Gold and Sullivan must be licking thejr lips at the prospect of a summer auction windfall to come. There you go Moyesie , £150m in , we'll keep half to pay the interest on our loans , you can find another couple of Vlasic's with the rest.

As I’ve said, selling Rice in the summer makes absolutely no commercial sense
WC at Christmas and his value will rise further
Plenty of elite clubs will need an elite Declan if we hold him for a year more, and we will still have a two year contract

Darby - Generally agree, but if we set the price too high clubs won't pay it, they will also have their own value on him , they may go slightly higher but no more. But agree you are also paying for potential to get better too, like City did with Grealish. He's never a 100 mil player now, and they most likely knew it, but at his age they would be pretty sure they will make him even better.

It's surprising how often our sales to bigger clubs look like muggings in retrospect. Rio's price doubled in 18 months or whatever. Carrick for 2.5m. Lampard for 11m.

What you forget is that players like Rice may look good now, but they'll look a hell of a lot better with better players around them, and maybe better training and tactics, as Rio, Carrick and Lampard did.

We've got to price him not for what he does for us, but what he'd do for Man City or Chelsea, which is probably a lot more.

But what they won’t do is give Moyes the cash they would have done for players if Rice was to stay. They will get their money back that way.

Depends how they take the cash, out of the entity that is West Ham.

They don't draw a salary and are unlikely to. If they paid a dividend, it would go to all shareholders, not just Gold and Sullivan.

if they sell their remaining shares to Kretinsky, the price (option) is pre agreed, so having Rice/not having Rice, makes no difference to the share price. Though as Kretinsky, are you more likely to buy a club with Rice in, or not in?

One issue I can see, is the club may be cash deficient and need to sell Rice, so the Gold and Sullivan can repay their £55 million in loans to themselves, that the club owes them. Plus £9.5 million owed to Albert Smith.

When Man Utd were buying Rooney there was a meeting and they were negotiating the fee. Kenwright said that Rooney was worth his weight in gold, so the man u Chief exec, Edwards?, called his mum and asked for the gold price, he then got his medical and said to Kenwright we will buy him for his gold worth and went to shake his hand. The price was about 8 mill at the time.

They all laughed and Kenwright said we need a bit more money.

Odds are that he will go to Chelsea but wait until Kante starts to decline since injuries are statting to stack up for him and he is 31 or so now?. So I think ( and as always, could well be wrong) , that he will stay with us one more season. If Kante or Jorgino ( spelling?) get a bad injury that could change but for one more season I think he will stay
